When Anandibai was boarding a ship off the coast of Kolkata in 1883, her health was not good. However, she still went and enrolled in the Women’s University of Pennsylvania. She returned to India in 1886 and was appointed as medical in-charge of the women’s ward at Albert Edward Hospital.
